Sensory Board

So on my last trip to Ikea I found a board which was meant to be a shelf, however I had different plans. The board was $3.99 so a real bargain. I tend to try and use items I already have on hand for Parker's sensory fun because lets be honest he is only going to play with these type of things for a short while.

What you need

- Some sort of board (card board, self, wood)

- Tape (could use glue instead)

- Materials in all different textures

I managed to find some awsome tape at Kmart that was on clearence so I used that to tape down all the material. Alternatively you could glue them down or use duct tape/100 mile an hour tape.

I raided my sewing room to find materials that had different textures. I used a think cotton material and a soft minky material. I also found an old collapsible chair cover in the garage which had a silky feel. And I use freezer bags (inside each other for extra texture) and scrunched up alfoil to complete the board. He loves it. He has spent a lot of time touching and playing with the board.

If I was to do it again I would swap the alfoil for bubble wrap because he managed to pull some of the alfoil off. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is willing to give it a go. It was super easy to make and has had plenty of use. I think my next sensory board is going to take me to Bunnings, so stay tuned for that one to be featured.
