The Little Green Sheep Sensory Play
So one night we were reading The little Green Sheep to Parker, and a light bulb went off. I thought to myself, I can turn this into sensory fun!
So the next day, just after breakfast, I did just that.
Now if your house is anything like ours you probably have a few large plastic storage containers hidden in cupboards around the house. I have found that these are amazing for baby sensory, and this Little Green Sheep Sensory Play was no different.
Now before I get any further I will let you know that this isn't an eatable sensory play so if you were going to give it a go I would defiantly recommend keeping a close eye on how close your babies hand gets to their mouth!
To do this sensory play all you need is
- Cotton wool balls
- water (can be bath temperature)
- Food Coloring (optional)
- a plastic container or a bath tub
The first thing I did was put him in the plastic container with the cotton wool balls. To be honest he wasn't quiet sure what he thought about them. And it only took him a couple of seconds before he tried to taste the white fluffiness that is a cotton wool ball. I kept stopping him, and for a little while kept him entertained by dropping handfuls from above him. But after about 10 minutes he had had enough. So then it was time to move onto the next stage.
To be honest this was probably the most fun he had. He kept trying to pull the measuring jug in on himself. He was very entertained by the flow of water. I did add food coloring to our water, but this isn't a necessity.
At first I didn't want to put too much water in the container, because I wasn't sure how to cotton wool balls would absorb the water. As you can see the water had more of his attention then the balls. But after a while, I put the water away and he then turned all his attention to the soggy cotton wool balls.
Having the wet soggy balls on him must have been a strange sensation. Every time I move them over his body he would try and move them away. He was however more then happy to try and eat them.
All in all he had a lot of fun, and most importantly it kept him entertained for an hour. This was a very cheap sensory play to do and the bonus is that all items used are household items so you will probably find that you already have them on hand.
